The short version
People use AidSense at vulnerable moments, so we collect as little as we can get away with. We do not sell your data, we do not run ads, and we do not build advertising profiles from what you search for. Everything below is the detail behind that.
What the app collects
Location
With your permission, AidSense uses your approximate location to rank nearby resources by distance. You can decline and search by entering a place name instead. We do not build or retain a history of where you have been.
Searches
What you type is processed to return matching resources. Searches are not attached to an advertising identifier and are not shared with advertisers or data brokers.
Contact details you choose to give us
If you email us, submit a resource, or ask to be notified when the Android version launches, we hold the details you send — typically your name and email address, plus organization contact information when you are submitting a listing. We use those details only to reply to you or to send the notification you asked for.
Diagnostics
We collect basic, aggregated usage and crash information to keep the app working. It is not used to identify you personally.
Apple publishes a summary of these categories on the App Store listing under “App Privacy.” If anything there and anything here disagree, tell us and we will correct it.
Android notification list
If you sign up to hear about the Android release, we store your email address, an optional first name, the time you signed up, and your IP address and browser user agent (used only for spam and rate limiting). That list has exactly one purpose: telling you when Android is available. You can ask us to delete you from it at any time.
What we never do
- Sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Ever, to anyone.
- Run advertising, ad networks, or third-party tracking pixels.
- Build advertising profiles out of what you search for.
- Hand over your searches to law enforcement absent a valid, legally binding order.
- Keep a history of your physical location over time.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Send you a copy of the information we hold about you
- Delete your information, including removing you from any email list
- Correct anything that is wrong
Write to privacy@aidsense.org and we will action it. You do not need to explain why.
Security and third parties
Data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS, stored on managed infrastructure, and kept only as long as it is needed. The services we rely on:
- Vercel — website hosting and database (privacy policy)
- Apple — App Store distribution and crash reporting (privacy policy)
- Fonts — served from our own domain, so your browser never contacts a font provider
Children's privacy
AidSense is rated 13+ and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them; if we learn that we have, we delete it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that meaningfully affects you, we will update the date at the top of this page and email anyone on our notification list.
Questions or concerns
We would rather hear from you than have you wondering. Email privacy@aidsense.org.
